Hand railings. They're not just for safety anymore!

I collaborate with my clients to design custom railings that beautify and enhance their spaces. From simple clean lines to angular elaborate forge work, my forged railings are made with large gestures and intricate detail that together showcase the strength and subtlety of forged steel.

Crescent St. Railing
Northampton, MA
2022

This railing takes a turn at the bottom so folks have a handhold all the way up the stone steps from the driveway.
Bronze screws lend a touch of color to the elegant forged and painted steel.

Lake George Railing
Ticonderoga, NY
2018

A railing mounted directly into a stone retaining wall aids in descending the stairs to the lower level of this lake house.

Lake George, continued
2020

Railings continue from the lake house down to the docks. Custom-engineered, concealed clamps secure a hefty rope used as a handhold on the way down to the lake.

Aldrich st. Railing
Northampton, MA
2011

Elegant and minimal, these railings were forged using a historical helve hammer. It was quite a trip! (get it??)

Little Hand Rail
Crown Point, NY
2018

The whole time I was growing up in this house, a filing cabinet stood in this spot, ensuring no one would fall down the stairs from this side. After the cabinet went elsewhere, I created these solid, simple lines to an additional layer of safety at the top of the back stairs

Eastworks Entrance
Easthampton, MA

Folks kept tripping over the small concrete abutment sticking out by this UPS box. This small railing saved people from looking silly.

Linkin Railing
Jamaica, VT
2014

A full 360 degrees of stair railing with integrated planters takes advantage of the natural light in this beautiful space.

Guerra Railing Williamburg, MA

Forged tendrils add an organic delicacy to this hand-forged steel railing.

Rigali Railing
Holyoke, MA

Classic lines, custom fit.

Copper and bronze railing
Williamsburg, MA

Forged bronze tendrils wrap around and secure the polished copper handrail.

Reykjavik, Iceland

loft railing
Florence, MA

A small whimsical railing allowed a young girl to play safely in the lofted space in her bedroom.

oak Staircase and railing
Easthampton, MA
2007

Massive oak slabs, milled from a tree felled to make room for this modern home, float effortlessly mounted to my heavy-duty steel stringers. CableRail elements add lightness.

Railing Brackets

Sometimes folks want a wooden handrail…that’s okay! I can make the brackets.
